Microsoft Security Icons

In collaboration with a TGD creative director and designer, I was able to build a set of icons for Microsoft Security. My role was to strategize and design various sets of icons, and assist in presenting the work to client. Once a solid direction was selected I helped define and explore color execution.

Project Overview

Given a brief description of each product, guidelines to Microsoft iconography and reference images to pull inspiration from, our explorations included a variety of styles. Ranging from referential to abstract, layered to flat and monochromatic to diverse color pallets, we landed on a direction that satisfied the brief and aligned with the overall brand.

Designed in Adobe Illustrator and Figma

Design Process

Through many, many iterations and hours of sketching, I made sure to produce cohesive groups of icons that felt like family when paired together. Here’s a sneak peak at what part of that process looked like for me.

Final Production

For production of the icon assets, we put together Figma templates for the MS team to export files as needed. In delivery we made sure that all files met brand standards.

*The Microsoft Security program switched gears after completion of this project, so it was ultimately just an exploration that aided in developing clarity for the whole system.
